SK Telecom Chooses Samsung, LG, NSN as LTE Equipment Suppliers

SK Telecom announced that the company decides to select Samsung Electronics, LG Ericsson, and NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) as its LTE (Long Term Evolution) equipment suppliers, according to a January 27, 2011 report by the Global Telecoms Business. It is reported that all the three companies will provide base station equipment, while LG and Samsung will also provide switching equipment.

SK Telecom announced in mid-January 2011 that the company's LTE service will be commercially available in Seoul in July this year. The LTE service is reported to expand to metropolitan area and other six cities by 2012 and become nationwide by 2013. SK Telecom is expected to offer LTE modems and release its first LTE Smarphones at LTE launch, according to the same source.
